FLAMENCO FIRE by Rob Pritzlaff
Acrylics on a classical guitar
Inspired by the HOT sound of flamenco music, I envisioned the music as fire coming out of the sound hole of the guitar.
I used hot reds and yellows and contrasted cool blues. I also used metallic gold and silver paint. Oh, and the guitar is playable.

"All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players, performers and portrayers, each anothers audience outside the gilded cage"
So goes the well known song by Rush. The lyrics to the rest of this song puts forth the notion that we are always acting and if we are always acting, when are we truly being ourselves? The most obvious place where we "act" is at work. We are told to play our part or to execute our defined roles. If we deviate from from the unwritten script, then we are accused of not being team players and are disrupting the collective.
Unfortunately there are consequences for disrupting the collective, even if the disruption is not acted out but merely only perceived by the one feeling disrupted. We are stigmatized with negative labels broadly applied from quaint little management books because we contest to the fact that our cheese was moved. But beyond the lableing, there is the risk of losing our jobs or not being promoted because we are not quietly going along with the plan.
So we are told to play the game and we relinquish our version of reality out of self-preservation. Without work, it is really difficult to survive. So our whole social existance has been propped up on our "acting" jobs. If you have acted well, you have success, a home, a car, electronic toys, more pay, more prestige and priveldge as long as you continue to buy into the script and the role you are playing.

FINE by Rob Pritzlaff from RE:INVENTION
This is a fan-favorite whenever I play out. It has become a sort of call and response type of song.
THE DIRT by Rob Pritzlaff from SNOWFALL
A Blues tune about how good Jesus is to me but yet how badly I treat Him sometimes.
