This CD is a sample of how I am live from 2000 to 2002. I've been playing at Linneman's since 1995 and over the years I have developed my performing. Usually at an open mic night, unless the place is quiet, I play more covers than originals, yet I make them my own. 'Year
Of The Cat' is one of my favorite songs and I love how great it still
sounds when it's stripped down to just guitar and voice. 'You Can Do
Magic' I perform very aggressively since the original could use a little
more energy, besides it lets me growl a little. 'Faith 101 is an early
original of mine. I was 'the faith song' on the Obvious demo of mine.
But I changed this song to a reggae style and I was pleased with how
well it works. 'Liquid Armor' was written at Fuel Café while
I was waiting for the open stage at Linneman's to start, so I thought
I'd try it out live first. 'Lament' is retitled from 'I want to stop'
from the Obvious and 'I Can't Stop' and 'The Dirt' are live versions
from my 'Snowfall CD from 2002. I like to goof around sometimes on stage
and this shows with my Prince version of 'I Could Never Take The Place
Of Your Man' I have a feel for the blues and I took Sade's 'No Ordinary
Love' and wailed like I was really hurt. 'Miss Mary Mack' started out
as a joke but became a great vehicle to show how a song can sound good
if not better by changing the style. This is a song thet I learned as
a kid in catechism class. I drove me nuts, so I had to change it. Overall,
I just have fun with the songs I perform regardless of style. |
